It would seem that dyeing your hair at home is a piece of cake. However, when it comes down to it, the procedure seems to be very difficult, and even the easiest activities can give you a headache. If you have problems with hair colouring using at-home methods, then you have the opportunity to learn how to do it correctly.
Are there any natural hair dyes?
Currently, there is a wide range of natural hair dyes available on the cosmetics market. The main ingredient of these products is colouring herbs. They should be applied to unwashed and dry strands, which is opposite to ordinary dyes. Natural ingredients reduce the risk of skin irritation and drying of the hair. Nevertheless, an allergy test should be run beforehand. If after one or two days no allergic reaction appears, you can dye your hair without any problems.
How to dye your hair?
Above all, be careful. Traditional dyes contain ammonia that is irritating to eyes, skin and hair. For this reason, many girls choose natural products. Before using them, check what effect they can give. Usually, this information is placed on the packaging – it is a photograph showing the result obtained on different shades of hair. Herbal paints give a softer effect; they can also leave a green shade on the highlights. How to remove it? The rinse made of water and aspirin will work well.
Bleaching your hair
This is the most dangerous treatment you can apply to your hair. After highlighting, the strands are more vulnerable to damage, because the hair scales are opened. To prevent damage, use appropriate cosmetics and give up drying with hot air. What’s more, it is essential that for lightening the hair, you use professional cosmetics, and before the procedure, you run an allergy test and check whether the obtained colour will suit you.
Hair colour-treating step by step
First of all, run an allergy test. If you do not have any allergic reactions after one or two days, you can dye your hair. Then, brush out the highlights. Interestingly, it is not recommended to wash your hair before dyeing, because the sebum that is on it, naturally protects your hair from the undesired effect of dyes. Divide the combed hair into four sections: make the parting in the middle of the head and the second one across the head (from the ear to the ear). Clip away all the sections. Then, mix the colouring cream with the developer and divide the mixture into two parts. The first one will be for the root touch-up and the second one for the rest of the hair. Start applying the dye to the roots on the back of your neck. The product should be left on for about 20 minutes. After this time, wash out the hair and apply a deacidifying conditioner.
All done!
